BROOKSVILLE - A jury took 20 minutes Tuesday to acquit a man accused of attempting to run over at least five people with his car.
Marc A. Spiesicke, 47, of Spring Hill, was charged with five counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
Prosecutors said he tried to mow down a group of people with his vehicle at a local mobile home park in March. One of the alleged victims was a pregnant 17-year-old, they said.
Some of the victims failed to show up to testify Monday and Tuesday and many of the witnesses had conflicting testimony, prosecutors said.
Spiesicke's only previous conviction in Hernando County was for reckless driving in 2008, according to court records.
