There are several reasons why elected officials refuse to listen to us, and one of them is they believe we are too stupid to take care of ourselves and make correct decisions.
Another reason is they believe we have short memories and will forget what they did before the next election. They need only look at history to believe that because, in too many cases, it is true.
Those are both good reasons, but the major reason why they will not listen in this environment is the golden opportunity for power they have sought their entire careers.
The left sees an opportunity to finally achieve so much power they will remain in control for all time.
Controlling school loans guarantees the right people get those loans. Controlling the auto industry ensures the right kind of cars are produced. Controlling banks ensures redistribution of wealth can be more easily implemented.
The ultimate grasp for power is the health system, and they see that within their reach like no other time in history.
The American people have voiced their displeasure about the current direction of the country in unmistakable language, and it seems to be unheard by our elected officials.
Many pundits state there could be another blood bath at the midterm elections and the Democrats could lose control of the House and lose many seats in the Senate.
That does not really bother the left, because the leadership is willing to lose control for a short period of time knowing when they return to power, and they will, it will be forever.
The moderate Democrats, many of whom won seats in conservative Republican districts, will be the sacrificial lambs - not the leaders. John Conyers, Barney Frank, Nancy Pelosi, John Dingell, Dennis Kucinich, John Murtha, Charlie Rangel and Henry Waxman, to name a few, are not worried about losing their seats. They are safe and they still think we are so stupid and forgetful that losing control probably will not happen anyway.
All of this does not need to happen. The left is set in their aims, but they forget one thing - the American people.
I believe there are enough elected officials who will respond to pressure from the population, but it must be resounding.
The left leadership will use all of its power to coerce younger representatives to vote with the leadership, but the people can bring even more pressure.
That pressure has already started to be built and exercised. The Tea Parties, Town Halls and demonstrations have caused the left and their toadies in the media to react with false stories about who these people represent and what they want.
The answers are simple: They represent themselves as Americans and want their freedoms to remain intact. They want their representatives to respect this country as much as they do. They want their children to be educated and not indoctrinated unless it is to teach how great this country really is and not taught we are the major cause of worldwide problems.
They want the government to stop interfering with the market and get out of the way so Americans can do what they always do in emergencies - perform and surprise all the naysayers with that performance.
If what they want does not start to materialize, then our elected officials will not only hear from us constantly, but the midterm elections will be a total surprise beyond anything predicted.
