The place to be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, will be the Elks Lodge, 14494 Cortez Blvd., when the fifth annual Hernando County Health Fair kicks off.
The event will feature health-related booths sponsored by local providers, free health screenings for cholesterol, glucose and blood pressure and other important health information will be provided and questions answered.
The event will include live music, free parking and samples of signature items from local food establishments. The food vendors will be Boston Cooker; Chick-fil-A; D'Lites Emporium; Marco's Pizza; Paesano's; Papa Joe's and Starbucks.
At this event, concerned citizens can get their seasonal flu shots for $30 — this is not the H1N1 swine variety — and pneumonia shots will also be available for $45. Medicare and most insurance will be accepted, as will cash.
