BROOKSVILLE - Incumbent County Commissioner Dave Russell pre-qualified with the county supervisor of elections office Thursday to run again in 2010 for his District 4 seat.
Russell, a Republican, is seeking a second term on the board.
To date, Russell is facing no opposition from either Republicans or Democrats. But he knows it's early in the race.
Russell said he would like to complete the job of government streamlining already begun by County Administrator David Hamilton.
"When I first ran three years ago, I promised to work hard to downsize government, reduce property tax millage rates and just, in general, make Hernando County a better place to live," Russell said Thursday.
"I believe I've fulfilled those promises to a great degree and there is more work to be done," he said.
