County bosses get a raise

BROOKSVILLE - All five Hernando County commissioners and the five constitutional officers are getting a raise this year, courtesy of the state.

Each year, the Florida Legislature determines the compensation for all elected officials, whose salaries differ from county to county depending on population and size of jurisdiction.

Here's a look at what each county commissioner and constitutional officer will make for fiscal year 2009-10. The previous fiscal year's salaries are in parenthesis:

County commissioners Jim Adkins, Rose Rocco, Dave Russell, Jeff Stabins and John Druzbick: $61,074 ($60,573).

Clerk of the Circuit Court Karen Nicolai: $119,741 ($119,449).

Property Appraiser Alvin Mazourek: $119,741 ($119,449).

•Tax Collector Juanita Sikes: $119,741 ($119,449).

Supervisor of Elections Annie Williams: $101,718 ($101,440).

• Sheriff Richard Nugent: $128,337 ($128,045).

• School board members' new salary is $32,912, ($32,819).

• The average annual wage of a Hernando County worker is $31,556.
