Man arrested while posing as his brother

BROOKSVILLE - A 28-year-old man was arrested Monday for driving a vehicle while posing as someone else, who later turned out to be his brother.

Just after 11 p.m., a sheriff's deputy stopped a late-model Nissan at the corner of Broad and Kollar streets after noticing his vehicle tag expired in May 2008.

The driver, who identified himself as Justin Webster, told the deputy he did not have his license but provided him with his name and date of birth.

The deputy verified the license through a software records system and noticed the photograph resembled that of the driver.

While the driver was signing the citation, the deputy noticed tattoos on the side of Webster's neck.

While checking the driver's identity, the deputy found a picture of his brother, Jeremy Webster, who had the same tattoos on the side of his neck. A check of their Social Security numbers revealed there was only one digit separating the two. A check of Jeremy Webster's license record revealed five suspensions from 2006 for failure to pay traffic fines.

When told of this, the driver told the deputy he lied because he was scared, a sheriff's report said.

Jeremy was taken into custody for providing a false name to a law enforcement officer, driving with a license revoked or suspended and forgery for signing his brother's name to the citation.

He was transported to the Hernando County Jail and bond was set at $2,000.
