BROOKSVILLE - The National Weather Service issued a fire weather message for the Tampa region.
Critical fire weather conditions are expected across most of Southwest Florida today and Saturday afternoon.
Cooler and drier air will spread the region behind a cold front, which arrived Thursday night, according to AccuWeather.
The National Weather Service out of Ruskin has issued a red flag warning. It will be in effect from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. today.
A red flag warning is issued when conditions are favorable for the spread of wildfire.
