Political correctness killing our country

Published: November 10, 2009

The real killers at Fort Hood in Texas are political correctness, affirmative action and the cult of diversity. If the gunman was of any other religion other than Muslim, he would not have been in a position to do what he did. He would have been thrown out of the Army years ago and the military and civilian deaths, injuries and carnage he created would never have happened.

But since the gunman came from a "protected group" in our society, his actions are being deodorized by the media as a spontaneous act that could not have been predicted. He just flipped out. However, we now know that the military knew differently and, due to "political correctness," they either couldn't or wouldn't get rid of him because he is Muslim.

Political correctness, affirmative action and the belief that "diversity" is a virtue under any circumstance, has forced every institution in the U.S. to comply with beliefs that are suicidal to any society. We have a school system that produces graduates who believe they have the capability of becoming anything they want to be, even though they read and do math at what was once a fourth-grade level. We have businesses that hire people who they know are not fit for the job, but who fit their required quotas. And it is now evident that we have a military willing to risk the safety of our men and women in uniform in order not to appear politically incorrect.

The belief that "diversity" is good for a nation is going against all that is known about past civilizations. Promoting cultural and language differences is suicidal for any country. We were once unified by our culture and language, but now we celebrate "diversity" as if it were an asset. It is not. It has caused insurmountable problems in our educational system and divided us against one another. Instead of everyone working toward common goals for the good of our country and everyone in it, we are busy fighting each other for "our share" of the goodies. And we also can no longer successfully compete against other countries, because we are graduating community organizers, instead of scientists, mathematicians and engineers.

It is now evident we are rapidly going down the tubes and the origin for this began in the 1960s by the now aging baby boomers. Ironically, the boomers will eventually become the victims of their own ill conceived social movement. They wanted change and unfortunately they got it. As the old saying goes, "They threw out the baby with the bath water" and got change for the worse. We are again relying on "change" to correct our present day problems, but again it is change for the worse.

If we continue on our current path, the only good that can come out of our collapse is that future civilizations will learn from our mistakes and hopefully not repeat them.
