Brooksville - They say they're starting a new wave. Claiming to be "shining the light on more responsible ways for controlling pests," Nature's Best Organic Pest Control officially opens for business this week. The owners say their focus is on educating residential and commercial property owners on more eco-friendly pest control methods.
Since unofficially beginning operations in July, they claim their current residential and commercial customers are thus far satisfied with their methods. "Our clients are all happy. We haven't had a single complaint, and will be glad to provide references," says Service Manager Patrick Garrett. Garrett and his partners, Richard Butts and Richard Garrett (Patrick's father), all profess strong environmental concerns as the main reason for beginning Nature's Best.
Patrick Garrett explains, "Richard (Butts) originally contacted my dad and I after discovering Green World Path, an organic agriculture input company in Brooksville." The Green World Path web site claims they are "The World Leader In Organics For All Green Areas And Beyond." Butts is a local entrepreneur who "has always been very health-conscious and a green-thinker." He and the Garretts agreed that Hernando County was in sore need of more environmentally-friendly pest control.
Patrick states, "We all share the same concerns about cancer and diseases. Pets and children are especially vulnerable to ingesting potentially cancer-causing agents. Chemical fertilizers are a 'quick fix' that kills all the micronutrients under the soil. In an eco system, everything is there for a reason. If you pollute in one area, something else down the line is going to suffer."
He continued, "Our perimeter and indoor products are not harmful to the environment. They don't leach into the groundwater and are completely safe for humans and animals. 'Organic' means completely natural. They are a combination of elements used by nature to kill pests." Their products claim to be specially-formulated blends of essential oils – naturally occurring elements that are the enemies of insects. Their website claims, 'Bugs Can't Escape What Nature Made.'
Nature's Best is currently focused on indoor and home perimeter organic pest control. They are pleased with the positive results they see using Green World Path products, and with scientific validations that continue to substantiate the value and effectiveness of organic pest control compounds. Patrick added, "We're changing pest control as we know it. It's only a matter of time before more people understand the importance and effectiveness of using organic compounds as a healthy alternative to conventional pest control methods."
Patrick described their current service structure, predicated on their "IPM" (Integrated Pest Management) Program. "Help us help you," he said. "We review common-sense things you can do to help eliminate bug problems. We treat the building's interior and perimeter (about ten feet out). This destroys existing pests and serves as a natural deterrent to their return. The indoor treatment is required once a year with quarterly re-treatments of the exterior perimeter." He stated their products will eliminate one hundred per cent of all ants, chinch bugs, spiders, silverfish, bed bugs and their eggs, fleas, love bugs, all kinds of roaches and more. He claims there is no residue, no clean-up, and the process leaves a "light cedar fragrance." Patrick added they can fog an outdoor party area so a customer can have a mosquito-free party for up to four hours.
Nature's Best says their goal is to help eliminate harmful chemicals from Hernando County, and their biggest challenge is educating and convincing people their products are one hundred per cent effective and non-toxic. "We intend to educate every citizen we can on the benefits of using organic compounds to eliminate pests," Patrick asserts. "We would be happy to speak at charitable organizations or to any interested local groups. Let's talk whenever, wherever. Our priority is getting to know customers personally, helping change people's mindset about organics. We want you to be a name, not a number."
Nature's Best is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and can treat on weekends if needed. There is a contact form available on their web site or customers can phone for more information.
