BROOKSVILLE - A drug suspect was treated at a local hospital Monday after he ran into a clothes line during a foot chase with deputies.
Maurice L. Williams, 33, was observed with what appeared to be crack cocaine and quickly tried to hide the substance when he noticed a nearby deputy, according to an arrest report.
He ran north along School Street and then darted behind a house, deputies said.
Williams turned back to see who was chasing him and ran into a clothes line, causing him to fall to the ground, according to the report.
A deputy saw him throw away a white cylinder containing crack cocaine, and he was eventually apprehended, authorities said.
Williams was transported to Brooksville Regional Hospital to be treated for lacerations on his face. He received stitches and bandages, deputies said.
He was charged with possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute, tampering with evidence and resisting arrest without violence.
He was held on a $35,500 bond.
