Buzz For Help

Re: Substitute teacher cited for slapping student.

It seems to me that provocations between students and teachers have increased considerably. It is a fact that today's students feel very empowered by the protection that they receive under the law and are prone to test the waters at the expense of a powerless teacher.

My suggestion would be install in every classroom a buzzer under the teacher's desk similar to what bank tellers have to alert authorities in case of a robbery.

In case of a confrontation, a teacher simply presses the buzzer, which summons either security or administrative personnel to the scene before the situation can evolve into a brawl.

Separating the teacher and the student under the watchful eye of a mature witness will prevent a situation from reaching a boiling point.

Gun Bill Must Be Stopped

Representative Bobby Rush has introduced the Blair Holt Firearms and Record of Sale Act of 2009 (H.R. 45). So far, the bill is stuck in the House Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism and Homeland Security.

If passed, however, the bill is so dangerous that it would effectively kill the Second Amendment and also see to what depths the gun grabbers will sink to get it passed.

Remember, your president and vice president, along with their Cabinet, want to disarm all American citizens. They have to, to bring in a complete socialist government. This is part of the big change that President Barack Obama is preaching about.

Now the first lady wants to tear up part of the White House to plant a vegetable garden to teach everyone how to raise vegetables. Our nation's Capitol will be a mess if this is the path that's starting. And, who's going to weed it?

Call and write to members of Congress about the H.R. 45 bill. It must be stopped.

Desert Dwellings

So, County Commissioner Rose Rocco thinks there is plenty of room for more housing and business development in Hernando County after her flight around the county?

The same could be said for the Mojave, Sahara and Gobi deserts.
