N.J. Driver Dies, Florida Passenger Hurt In Crash

BROOKSVILLE - A New Jersey man was killed Sunday night in a car crash on State Road 50.
Troopers say Jose Bardales, 20, was driving east around 10:20 p.m. when his car left the roadway about 16 miles east of Brooksville. Bardales's Toyota began to rotate in a counterclockwise direction, then slid about 77 feet before striking a tree with its left side, according to a report.
Seriously injured in the crash was Jonathan Colon, 17, of Clermont, who was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa for treatment. Neither occupant of the vehicle was wearing a seatbelt, according to a report.
