SPRING HILL - First responders are opening up Mariner Boulevard to traffic after a mother and daughter were struck by a car as they crossed the road this afternoon.
A car turning north onto Mariner from Portillo Road, about a block north of Springstead High School, hit both women shortly after 3 p.m., knocking them to the pavement, according to Spring Hill Fire Rescue District Chief Kevin Carroll.
Traffic was stopped in both directions as medical helicopters landed on Mariner Boulevard to transport the women to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa. Carroll said one woman was 81, the other in her late 60s.
The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating. Stay with hernandotoday.com for more details.
