I wish I knew the reasoning behind the new two-hour bus schedule. If the commissioners were trying to discourage the existing riders, they have succeeded. Waiting more than an hour in the Florida heat can be a problem.
If it was to save money, why not shut down the system for a day? I'm sure there are statistics indicating what day of the week there are fewer passengers. Workers could find an alternate way to get to work on that one day. Volunteers like myself could change shifts and doctors' appointments, and shopping could be curtailed for that day.
Public transportation was never meant to make money but to serve the people of the county.
