An article in Hernando Today was done about how the county could save more money if the county commissioners took a pay cut from their $70,000-plus a year salaries. Commissioner Rose Rocco said she could not afford to take a pay cut.
Come on. You only meet two times a month and you attend other functions. All other commissioners have agreed to this.
Commissioners are requesting that top managers take a cut if they make over $65,000 a year. And other county employees are losing or having to take furlough days without pay.
What type of job did Rocco have when she was elected county commissioner? I bet she was not making $70,000-plus a year. She says that she pays for stuff out of her pocket to the tune of $2,000 a year. Wake up Commissioner Rocco. School teachers do the same thing out of pocket to assist their students with a yearly salary of about $40,000 a year.
Rocco needs to wake up and smell the rose; she is asking other county employees to make sacrifices for the good of the county but she can't?
The voters need to remember this at the next election: she's selfish and does not care about anyone else but herself.
I wish I made more than $70,000 a year during my state and city employment, before I retired after 24 years of service of putting my life on the line each day as a police officer in Florida.
