Blame the Dems

Re: Guest editorial "Throw out the scoundrels before it's too late."

As usual, Joseph Tomaselli has his myriad facts to proffer and they are legion. He is ebullient ad nauseam and, as usual, touches upon any faux pas that the Democrats (in his jargon "liberals") may visit upon themselves.

I see no other recourse than to agree with his grandiose critique and to it I will be so bold as to add a cure to end all his mal-du-liberal (if I may coin a phrase) and suggest that he make up a petition to have everyone's favorite politician, George W. Bush, be drafted for a third term for president. He will then help our country out of the international economic quagmire which we are in (blame the Democrats). Too, he will promptly invade the Philippines (positive proof of WMD).

On the other hand, shelf that jingoistic suggestion and replace the geographic chart with (what's the newest and least important threat?): Argentina! After all, don't they have a whole bunch of oil wells? (Remember Iraq?)

Grateful for help

Last Sunday, Father's Day, we were involved in a three-vehicle accident at the intersection of U.S. 19 and Ranch Road in Port Richey. Our two young granddaughters, visiting from North Carolina, were seated in the second row of our Kia Sedona mini van. We wish to thank all of the good Samaritans, several of whom witnessed the wreck, who stopped to assist us.

One young man carried one of the girls out of the van as, due to the stifling smoke from one of the airbags, we were told to vacate the vehicle immediately. Before we could locate our cell phone, a motorist called 911. Much kindness, care and comfort were given to all of us by lay people as well as by members of the Florida State Highway Patrol, Port Richey Police, Pasco County Sheriff's Office, Pasco EMTs and volunteer firefighters who happened to be in the area.

We did not get any names, but we want to publicly acknowledge our gratitude. God's blessings to all of you.
