BROOKSVILLE - Now that the county has received the go-ahead from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, it can proceed with a remedial plan to clean up the contaminated former department of public works compound at 201 W. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
Assistant County Engineer Gregg Sutton said he expects to file that plan and submit it to the DEP within the allotted 90 days.
Sutton said the county has now identified the scope of the contamination. During this remedial phase, it will determine how to get rid of the contaminated material.
