BROOKSVILLE - Turn it down Brooksville.
The city council approved an ordinance Monday that allows impoundment for code violations, including loud car stereos.
The city already has an impound ordinance on the books, but Police Chief George Turner proposed the revised language to make the ordinance more enforceable.
The city council tabled action on the ordinance during its first reading in June because they felt impoundment for a first-time offense was too harsh. The revised version allows for impoundment if it's a second violation or an outstanding ticket has not been paid in the past 30 days.
It passed by a 4-1 vote on Monday, with Councilman Joe Johnston III dissenting. There were no public comments.
The ordinance goes into effect immediately.
