The new leader at Nature Coast Technical High School is former assistant principal Toni Ann Noyes.
As first reported by Hernando Today.com, Noyes was chosen out of five candidates, all but two of whom had administrative experience at the school.
The search committee was expected to recommend two finalists to Superintendent Wayne Alexander on Thursday.
They only recommended one person – Noyes.
"She has experience in curriculum. She brings diplomacy. She brings experience," said Alexander of the hire. "I think she'll do a wonderful job."
Noyes currently is the principal at West Hernando Middle School.
She was on vacation Thursday and was unavailable for comment.
Nature Coast is Hernando County's only magnet high school. A magnet school offers specialized curricula and only students who live in the district are eligible to attend.
