Deputy on patrol catches illicit liaison

SPRING HILL - A deputy on patrol caught a teenager having sex with a minor behind a Spring Hill grocery store.

It was around 4 a.m. Tuesday when the deputy said he spotted a green Volkswagen parked behind the Winn-Dixie on Spring Hill Drive. As the deputy walked up to the car, he saw a girl putting on her clothes and a man climbing into the front seat, a report states.

The driver, Tristan Harris, 18, ignored the deputy's commands to stop and fled southbound on Mariner Boulevard, according to a report. The deputy eventually caught up with them on Linden Drive, where Harris was arrested on suspicion of loitering and prowling.

After further investigation and questioning the 15-year-old girl in his car, Harris, of Land O' Lakes, was arrested on a charge of having sex with a minor under the age of 16.

Champagne in pants earns trip to jail

SPRING HILL An attempt to smuggle champagne out of a grocery store earned Timothy Thomas a trip to the county lockup on Tuesday, a report shows.

A Publix loss prevention officer told a deputy that he saw Thomas place two bottles of bubbly worth $85 into his jeans and attempt to walk out of the store, according to a report.

Thomas was arrested on suspicion of retail theft.
