New Abortion Policy

Published: January 31, 2009

Re: New Abortion Policy

I am a 69-year-old practicing Catholic and have been my entire life. For the first time in my life, I am ashamed to admit that; and I will tell you why I feel that way.

All the Catholic churches are conducting a postcard campaign in which they are conveying to our legislators their disapproval of the liberalizing of our abortion laws.

Under the new guidelines, if a physician determines that the mother-to-be is under stress, an abortion can be performed at any time before a natural delivery. There is much more to this liberalization than I have the time or space to expand on.

If anyone is in doubt of just what an abortion is, go to the Museum of Science and Industry in Tampa and see the beating hearts and moving limbs that are killed in any abortion.

They will not show a late term abortion because it is too grotesque to see a baby's skull smashed with an instrument so the so-called fetus can be aborted. I gave a leg in defense of my country for all the lives in the USA, including the unborn babies, not for the present regime that will murder unborn children.

As far as my own Catholic church goes, why did they not tell their parishioners what would happen if the Democrat was elected. Obama did not hide his views on abortion, and the majority of my fellow Catholics voted for him.

Now that the horse is out of the barn, they are trying to close the door. I believe that every Catholic bishop in this country should be fired for not saying something while we still had a chance to save thousands, if not millions, of unborn children.

Incidentally, I hope all of you good voting Catholics know that your tax dollars are now being spent overseas to pay for abortions.

I hope everyone is proud of what your vote has accomplished. Are you happy with the change that you wanted so badly?

Double-Check Your Phone Bill

I would like to tell all the readers to go over their phone bills with a fine tooth comb. It seems there is another scam going on, and I am one of the victims. In December we noticed a charge from a company called USBI on our AT&T phone bill. They are located in Las Vegas, NV.

When we called this company they referred us to another company called Call For Less located in Miami. After many tries we got through to them and they tell us we signed up for a free iPod or a laptop computer, and this is a one time charge.

We told this company we never signed up, as I know today there is nothing free. They had my name, address and even the place I was born, and for the life of me I have no idea how they obtained this information. I have never received the above named products.

After calling AT&T, which was NO HELP, they informed me that the charges had to be paid. Call for Less said they would issue a credit but it would take a couple of billing cycles for it to happen.

I Googled USBI and read some of the complaints listed against them, and they were all similar to mine.

None of the people knew how the charges got there, mine was for $20.73, some of the ones I read were much higher. They said their phone companies, Verizon, AT&T and others were no help to them, and said that we had to contact USBI on our own to solve the problem of these charges.

I have contacted "Eight On Your Side" to see if they can be of any help. With the way the phone bills are printed by my carrier, AT&T, there are quite a few pages with different taxes, etc. We use AT&T as our local and long distance carrier. However, most of our long distance calls are with our cell phones.

Please read your bills carefully.
