Student Rapes Classmate At Star Education Center

A 17-year-old boy was arrested Thursday on a charge that he raped a classmate in the bathroom at Star Education Center in Brooksville.
The suspect, who will not be identified because of his age, asked for a bathroom key and as he walked towards the facilities, noticed the victim was headed in the same direction. Once the victim had entered the bathroom, the suspect unlocked the women's restroom and sexually assaulted her, according to an affidavit.
The victim was released and she immediately reported what had happened to her teacher. In a recorded interview, the suspect reportedly admitted to the allegations.

Suspect Named In Fatal Hit-And-Run

Police named a suspect Friday in the death of a homeless man who was struck with a pickup as he pedaled his bicycle north on Broad Street Tuesday night.
Darrin James Spivey, 31, was arrested Thursday night and charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death and tampering with evidence.
According to a report, Spivey was also northbound on Broad Street, in between Saxon Avenue and Mondon Hill Road, around 8 p.m. when he struck 51-year-old David Williams. Investigators said that Williams was dressed in dark clothes and hard to see.
Spivey did not pull over to render aid, but continued driving until his pickup truck no longer worked, a report states. Spivey later admitted to the crash and said he repaired the pickup's broken headlight and dented hood in his mother's garage, police say.
