BROOKSVILLE - Judge Rod Lane, right, questions J.D. Floyd 7th-grader Samantha Marsh, 12, on her science project dealing with the use of verbal fillers, words such as "like, you know, and um" by middle school students at the Annual Science and Engineering Fair Thursday at the Hernando County Fairgrounds in Brooksville. Marsh determined that 7th-graders on average use 18.5 verbal fillers in a 2-minute conversation.
