BROOKSVILLE - A man called authorities on Tuesday, convinced that eight to 10 men with assault rifles were trying to kill him.
A responding deputy found the suspect, Herman Johnson, standing on the side of Jefferson Street staring into the woods. The deputy didn't see any commandos in the woods, despite Johnson's insistence that they were there, a report states.
The deputy decided to place Johnson under the Baker Act, which allows temporary commitment of a person believed to be a harm to himself. Once at the treatment facility, a nurse removed Johnson's shoes and a bag containing 3.4 grams of powder cocaine fell out, a report states.
Johnson, 30, was arrested on felony possession of cocaine and taken to the county jail.
Report: DUI Suspect Caught Speeding
SPRING HILL - A suspected drunk driver was arrested Monday after driving 15 mph over the limit on Commercial Way.
Michael Osborne, 26, was pulled over and first asked if he had drunk any alcohol that day. Osborne said no. When the deputy rephrased the question and asked Osborne the last time he consumed alcohol, the suspect reportedly replied, "An hour ago."
Osborne couldn't come up with a straight answer about the number of whiskey shots he had downed either, so the deputy arrested him on suspicion of DUI. Osborne reportedly provided blood alcohol levels of .154 and .158; Florida law presumes intoxication at .08.
