BROOKSVILLE - Hernando County has the third-highest unemployment rate in Florida.
The Agency for Workforce Innovation in Tallahassee released its figures Friday for December 2008.
Hernando jumped from 10.3 to 10.9 percent in one month. Unemployment was at 6.6 percent one year earlier.
It ranks behind Flagler (11.7) and Hamilton (10.9) counties.
The state's unemployment rate increased from 7.2 in November to 8.1 percent in December.
