SPRING HILL - Nicole Luker awoke Thursday morning to a house full of smoke.
She hastily grabbed her 8-year-old daughter and two dogs, then did a quick room search to make sure her 12-year-old son had left for school. With the smoke growing thicker by the minute, Luker stepped outside into the frigid morning.
From her position in the front yard of 3295 Seaview Drive, she could see the black smoke was rolling out in earnest from behind the trailer.
"That's when we knew that there was no going back," she said over the rumble of the Spring Hill fire engines lining narrow Seaview Drive in Weeki Wachee Acres, just east of U.S. 19.
Fire officials believe the blaze began in the heating ducts.
