BROOKSVILLE - A man was arrested after striking a police officer with the door of his car and a woman was arrested for trying to disrupt the arrest, authorities said.
Martin "Dan" Patrick, of Brooksville, was seen speeding and passing another car shortly after 9 a.m. Friday along Broad Street, according to an arrest report.
He stopped his vehicle and an officer exited his car and approached Patrick, who then drove away, police said.
The officer returned to his car and pursued Patrick to his house, located at 823 S. Broad St. He got out of his vehicle and yelled, "I am on my property now, you can't do anything to me," according to the arrest report.
The police officer at the scene was "obstructed" by Barbara Cherry, of Brooksville, and she refused to obey his commands, police said.
At that time, Patrick struck the officer with his door, police said.
Both were arrested and transported to the Hernando County Jail.
