Helicopter Locates Hiding Suspect
BROOKSVILLE - A wanted man who bolted from deputies, scaled a brick wall and hopped a fence was found hiding in the woods Wednesday night by a sheriff's helicopter.
A deputy was sent to 11811 Broad St. around 7:50 p.m. to find Andrew Obartuck, who was wanted on a warrant. The man who answered the door identified himself as Joseph Simpson and said that Obartuck would be home later, a report shows.
The deputy returned to her car and retrieved a photo of Obartuck on her computer, which reportedly matched the man who answered the door. The deputy knocked on the door again and told Obartuck he was under arrest; the suspect slipped out of grasp as she handcuffed him, though, and he bolted into the nearby woods, a report states.
A helicopter searching for the suspect directed deputies to where Obartuck was hiding. He was arrested on the warrant, plus charges of resisting arrest without violence and giving false information.
