Report: Woman Slapped In Courthouse
BROOKSVILLE - A man upset about the outcome of a dependency hearing slapped his ex-girlfriend outside the fourth floor elevators at the courthouse Tuesday, a report states.
The suspect, Jerry Garrett, 36, fled down the stairs but only made it to the first floor before he was stopped by two deputies waiting for him, a report shows. Garrett, who was "highly combative," was escorted to the holding cells in the basement of the courthouse while the arresting deputy completed his interviews with the alleged victim and a witness, a report states. Garrett, of 17001 Citrus Way, was charged with domestic battery.
Domestic Violence Suspect Hides On Roof
BROOKSVILLE - A domestic battery suspect hid on the roof of his home Tuesday night, only to be found by a sheriff's helicopter hovering overhead, a report shows.
Deputies were called to 12020 Rebel St. after the suspect, Anthony Parker, reportedly shoved and struck his girlfriend. Parker left on foot before authorities arrived, only to be found by a helicopter looking for him, a report shows.
Parker, 29, was charged with domestic battery.
Recognition Between Cop, Suspect, Brings Arrest
SPRING HILL - Deputies say they found a loaded gun and drugs following a traffic stop Tuesday afternoon on Deltona Boulevard.
A detective on patrol said he was stopped at the intersection of Forest Oaks and Deltona boulevards when he recognized the suspect, Naeem Johnson, 20, as the driver of a car in the left turn lane. Johnson also recognized the detective and he flipped down the visor of his car to conceal his face, an arrest affidavit states.
The detective said he pulled over the 2008 Dodge Avenger because he knew that Johnson's license was invalid. A search of the car turned up a plastic bag with 11.9 grams of crack cocaine, a bag holding 2.4 grams of marijuana and a plastic scale with white residue in the center console, an affidavit shows.The detective also reportedly seized a loaded 9 mm handgun and a sheathed knife found in the glove box. Johnson, of 4985 Kirkwood Ave., was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of crack cocaine, possession of marijuana and driving on a suspended license.
