SPRING HILL - Three suspects have been arrested in connection with a bank robbery last week and a warrant has been issued for a fourth, deputies said.
The robbery took place Wednesday, Dec. 24, at the Tampa Postal District Federal Credit Union, located at 4094 Deltona Blvd.
Richard C Harris, 21, of Hudson, Jerald Davis, 22, and Tommy Lee Benton, 49, both of Fort Lauderdale, were arrested and charged with armed robbery. Davis and Benton were held on a $50,000 bond. Harris also was charged with violation of probation and was held without bond.
A warrant was issued for Jerome Simmons, 21, whose address is unknown.
Hernando County detectives learned the four suspects fled the bank in a white, four-door Plymouth to a motel in Ocala. From there, the suspects called an "associate" to pick them up and drive them to Clearwater, where Davis had parked his car, according to a sheriff's media release.
Davis picked up his Chevrolet Monte Carlo and drove to Fort Lauderdale with the other three suspects, deputies said.
Authorities from both Hernando and Broward counties tracked down Harris and Davis Tuesday afternoon in Fort Lauderdale and they were taken into custody without incident.
Seven hours later, Benton was located and arrested.
It is not known whether Simmons is still in the Fort Lauderdale area or traveling back to Clearwater.
Simmons is a black male who stands 5 feet 3 inches tall, weights 143 pounds and has a shaved head. He could be armed and is considered dangerous.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Hernando County Sheriff's Office at 352-754-6830 or Crime Stoppers at 1-866-990-8477 (TIPS).
