BROOKSVILLE - The Property Appraiser's Office is now taking Homestead and Low Income Senior applications.

Residents who bought a home in Hernando County during 2008 are reminded that applications for a homestead exemption must be submitted to the Property Appraiser's Office by March 2.

The same date applies to the low income senior exemption.

To qualify for that exemption, applicants must not have applied in 2008. Also, at least one owner of the household must be age 65 or older prior to Jan. 1. with total household adjusted gross income that does not exceed $25,873.

People who received the low-income senior exemption for 2008 do not need to file an application for 2009.

For more information, call the Hernando County Property Appraiser's Office at 754-4190 or visit www.hernandocounty.us/pa/exemptions.asp.
