Stuff I'd Like To Know

Some stuff I'd like to know: Has anyone ever seen proof that all those well done TV commercials that succeeded in getting rid of Diane Rowden and Chris Kingsley were really paid for by Blaise Ingoglia's personal funds?

If you did not see these TV spots, you should know they were very professionally done and, obviously, succeeded in putting Hernando County in the hands of Republican commissioners, with one exception - Rose Rocco.

Now we find new Commissioner Jim Adkins favoring what some are describing as a Ponzi scheme being pushed by Ingoglia. Investors would use taxpayer monies to encourage the purchase of foreclosed properties and, while this may sound like a good idea to some of us, for Ingoglia I think the main idea is to enable him to then build more "new" homes. Just shows you how much influence might be bought by getting the real fiscal conservatives out of office and putting more of the bumblers who got us where we are today in their place.

Some stuff I'd like to know: IBM, having laid off at least 4,000 American workers since 2009 began, sending those jobs to foreign workers in India, China, Brazil, etc. has now made a truly magnanimous offer to those laid off Americans. IBM is offering to fill those jobs with American workers willing to relocate to those foreign countries, where the pay scale is startlingly lower. And IBM spokesman said, "It's more of a vehicle for people who want to expand their life experience by working somewhere else. A lot of people want to work in India."

Hey, if so many folks want to work in India, how come we have so many Indians working here on temporary work visas? Whew, what is that smell?

Some stuff I'd like to know: Progress Energy raising its rates to pay for the building of a nuclear power plant (operable about eight years from now?). Gee, if we the people are paying to build this facility, does that mean that Progress Energy has now become a co-op, similar to Withlacoochee Regional Electric Cooperative? Goody, goody, I guess that means we will be getting credits/dividends at the end of each year's increase in Progress Energy's profits? No? Hey, since when do the customers pay for a private corporation's expansion?

Do you think if taxpayers chip in to build an Outback Restaurant we might get a better deal, putting some money in our pockets at the end of each fiscal year, which would boost the crumbling economy when we spent it? Do any of the right-wingers applauding this new rip-off care at all that the disposal of waste from this plant may be an insurmountable problem?

Well, maybe I can get their attention by letting them know their monthly bills will rise to the point that, if they have somehow been holding on so far in this economy, this increase should push them over the edge and maybe out of their homes. Bright side to that - you won't be getting Progress Energy's bills anymore!

Some stuff I'd really like to know: During the eight years of the Bush regime (although it all started with President Reagan) regulation after regulation was removed from banks and corporations. The results of that are evident when we read of people dying from eating peanut butter, a favorite in children's lunch boxes as well as a food of last resort for those of us who can no longer afford meat, fruits and vegetables. The Democrats in Congress, in the minority for at least six of those years and, with a majority of only one (Sen. Joe Lieberman) for the final two years, had no way to stop this onslaught on the safety and financial survival of our citizens. These were truly partisan actions on the part of the Republicans with no input sought from Democrats.

So, how about the outcry from those Republicans who somehow managed to - so far - hold onto their jobs bemoaning the lack of bipartisanship of the Obama administration!

Yes, President Barack Obama offered bipartisanship during his campaign but never implied that he would not be the guy in charge and the place where the buck would stop. Bipartisan does not translate to turning over control and decisions to the losing party folks, it only offers to listen and accept input that is believed to be constructive to promoting an end to the economic failures of the previous eight years.

Floundering to decide who they are and what they should stand for, these losers have apparently decided to follow the extremist right wingers and are intent on destroying every move Obama makes to benefit the citizens of our country.

Remember who worked to help you out of this hole and who kept digging it deeper, telling you to bite the bullet they are firing at you.
