BROOKSVILLE - The school board will have another week to mull over ideas to slash the budget.
A budget workshop slated for Tuesday afternoon at the school district's headquarters on Broad Street has been postponed until noon on Monday, Feb. 23. Superintendent Wayne Alexander was battling the flu Tuesday and the board agreed to reschedule, the school board's secretary said.
Alexander has drawn up a list of suggestions to cut the budget by as much as $31 million. Among the ideas are a 5 percent, across-the-board pay cut for district employees, cutting allocations for magnet programs and stopping bus service for students who live within two miles of school.
