BROOKSVILLE - A man deliberately rammed a Volkswagen Jetta with his own car after what he called a "drug deal gone bad."
Police were dispatched to 943 Village Drive on Saturday night to investigate a traffic crash. They found three people standing beside a black Jetta with heavy damage to the driver's side.
The victims told police they just had finished an argument with a group of people in a purple Mazda, which drove away when the argument ended. The victims backed out of their parking space and had just moved onto the roadway when the Mazda returned and backed into their vehicle at a high rate of speed, according to a report.
Officers measured a 23-foot skid mark from the VW post-impact.
Police investigation led them to Jeremy Madaris, 22, who reportedly admitted to ramming the car, saying it was a "drug deal gone bad." Madaris, of 15084 Copper Loop, was charged with three counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and leaving the scene of a crash with property damage.
