BROOKSVILLE -
The Hernando County school board will meet Tuesday to discuss whether to let Superintendent Wayne Alexander out of his contract and, if so, how to search for his replacement.
The board will meet at 1 p.m. at the district's headquarters, 919 N. Broad St. in Brooksville.
Alexander announced his resignation last week, saying he needs to return to New England where his new wife and stepchildren still live. Alexander had hoped to move the family to Florida but a visitation dispute with the child's father looks unwinnable in court, he told the school board.
A majority of board members have said they understand Alexander's situation and will likely allow him to end his three year contract after just two years.
If that happens, the board is slated to discuss the search process, the advertisement for the position and where to run it.
