Brooksville - Incumbent Hernando County Commissioner Rose Rocco pre-qualified with the county supervisor of elections office Friday to run again in 2010 for her District 2 seat.
Democrat Rocco will be seeking a second term on the board.
By filing now, Rocco said she will be able to start raising campaign funds.
"I figured I might as well get it done," she said.
Last month, Republican William Kingeter filed, hoping to unseat Rocco.
Kingeter told Hernando Today he anticipates a tough battle against Rocco and wanted to start the process early.
"I figure it's a long road but I have a lot of work to do taking on an incumbent, so I'll need extra time," said Kingeter, who was campaign manager for Robert Schenck, when the now-state representative ran for county commissioner.
