It is very encouraging to see our newly elected county commissioner, James Adkins, prove to be a man of his word. One of his campaign promises was to park THE Bus. As reported in Hernando Today, it looks like he is attempting to do so.
It is refreshing to see one of the few people who make political promises actually follow through on one of them. So few actually do so.
It has been my experience that many a campaign speech has contained many assurances of all of the wonderful things that they would do if elected, only to see all of them forgotten right after Election Day.
Once in office, pledges are reneged on, all the wonderful things that were to be done are lost in the shuffle and a concerted effort toward re-election and getting cozy with the bureaucrats and the special interest groups takes full precedence.
The voting public should keep this in mind. They should remember who promised what and what was actually done and vote accordingly.
