Fire State Farm

Editor's note: The following letter was written to Jim Thompson, president of State Farm Florida, and forwarded to Sen. Mike Fasano. It is reprinted here at the author's request.

Dear Mr. Thompson,

After 38 years of taking care of my total insurance needs and, I assume, making a tidy profit on same, your Florida division now decides that you will no longer cover property insurance lines. However, State Farm will do me the favor of taking care of all my other insurance needs in the future. How generous and professional of your company.

I do hope that other people like me will be smart enough to consider firing State Farm and shop their insurance needs at other ethical providers.

Good luck selling your select-high margin insurance offerings.

Join The List

As many of us know U.S. Air Conditioning & Heating has been in the news lately and for good reason.

I purchased a list from the county listing hundreds of mechanical permits drawn by this company installing air filters and ultraviolet lights for various people.

I made a number of calls to find out what people thought about their experience in doing business with them. What most said cannot be repeated in this letter.

The fact is nine out of 10 are very upset and feel they have been misled and would like to get some money back.

I hope this letter reaches other people who feel the same way and call 796-2089 to be added to the list.

Where's Sen. Dole When You Need Him?

As I was eating my Dole banana this morning, it occurred to me that it could be our new national fruit. The Dole Diet. Peel, eat slide.

Thinking about the most popular TV series of today, I thought there could be a sequel called "American Idle." They could follow unemployed people around with nothing to do and see what creative ways they find to pass their time when not standing in line for two open government positions.

With all the eroding banks, we could pour all our money into the Mississippi River on the gambling ships.

Money printing being farmed out to other countries because we can't print it fast enough here means we should release all the counterfeiters from prison - now they can provide a valuable service.

We are nearing the time when more people will be employed by the mostly unionized local, state and national governments than in the private sector - as warned by many economists over the years to be unsustainable. It's time to sell the bundled toxic investments directly to the government employees and teacher's tax-free retirement systems thereby erasing their multi-trillion dollar cash pension hoard and paying off the national debt. The current and soon-to-be unemployed/bankrupted non-government citizens financed that cash plan for them and paid all their salaries for decades. They at least will all still have high paying jobs with benefits after the payoff. They will also enjoy lower taxes without a big national debt and will eventually realize a profit over time from the assets.

Sounds fair to me. They still have time to get 40 quarters of time in Social Security for a pay-as-you-go plan just like the rest of us for minimum benefits. Then the playing field will be leveled.

Chicago Politics Hit Nominating Process

Tom "Puff" Daschle joins Bill Richardson, Secretary of Treasury Tim Geithner, Charlie Rangel and other Democrats too important to bother paying taxes - and when they get caught, it's just "Oops! I made a mistake and I'm really sorry."

You try that, folks. See if the IRS gives you a pass.

Hopefully, the voters of this country will get a bellyful of the Illinois/Chicago politics during President Barack Obama's first term and get rid of him. Maybe they'll do what they didn't do to Clinton and put him in the clink.

When are the "voters" of this country going to wake up to what they are voting into office?

Are we so immoral that we will continue to vote crooks into the most important elective offices in the country? To let them enrich themselves at our expense? Don't you care that your money is going into others pockets instead of civic projects? I don't mind supporting my kids, but I'll be damned if I want to support crooked Chicago hoods.

Do any of you believe that the above-named crooks made a mistake when they didn't pay their taxes. Do you believe that the criminal named Treasury Secretary is the only one that could fill the bill? A guy that couldn't figure out how to use "TurboTax? "Who forgot to pay taxes for nine years (2001-09)? Then when named as candidate for Secretary of the Treasury, finally remembered?

Charlie Wrangle who hadn't paid taxes for several years on income earned on a property in the Bahamas is trying to get away with paying the income sum and no penalties or interest.

Of course, you know about Geithner - too dumb to figure out "TurboTax" but too smart not to be nominated "Secretary of the Treasury."

The Governor of New Mexico, Bill Richardson, Obama's choice for commerce secretary, withdrew under pressure of a federal investigation into how his political donors landed a lucrative transportation contract. He's the dumb one. He must be kicking himself in the rear after reading about these other crooks. All he had to do was say "I'm sorry."

Of course, the latest crook, former Sen. Tom Daschel, who the folks of South Dakota unelected because he involved one of his assistants, whose salary was paid for by the taxpayers, in some nefarious election scheme. He probably forgot about that.

I think Eric Cantor said it best when he opined that "no wonder you Democrats like raising taxes, you never pay them!"

Why aren't the people upset who voted for these crooks? They're stealing their money also.

Chicago politics! I don't know why Obama was so upset or at least appeared to be about Blagojevich?
