Christmas Cantata today at First Baptist

We wish you a Merry Christmas holiday.

Christmas schedules: Today, the First Baptist Church of Masaryktown will hold its annual Christmas Cantata at 11 a.m. at the church on Kollar Street and Roosevelt Avenue. The theme is "Light of the World" and it is directed by Connie Gibbons.

At St. Mary Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, two blocks south of County Line Road on U.S. 41 south, on Dec. 24, Christmas Eve, the Vigil of Christmas will be 4 p.m. Mass, 7 p.m. Festival of Carols, 8 p.m. Solemn Mass; on Dec. 25, Christmas Mass at 10:30 a.m.

At Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, on Dec. 24, Christmas Eve candlelight worship at 7 p.m.; on Dec. 25, Christmas Day, Holy Communion at 10 a.m. Located on U.S. 41 south between Ayers Road and County Line Road.

At St. Anthony The Abbot Catholic Church on Cortez Boulevard, Dec. 24, Christmas Eve 4 p.m. Mass - bells begin at 3:30 p.m.; Midnight Mass 11:59 p.m. - carols begin at 11:30 p.m. On Dec. 25, Christmas Day, 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. Masses.

To some of our readers, belated Hanukkah wishes.

Carolyn Blaha had visitors last weekend - her high school mate Murelette and her husband Tom Pallo from Hughesville, Md. Carolyn and Murelette graduated from Tar Heel High School, class of 1960, in Tar Heel, N.C. They have been friends for a long time, so the 10-day visit was just too short, but totally terrific and most enjoyable to all.

At Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, the LWML, Lutheran Women's Missionary League, thanks to all who came to the holiday bake sale last weekend. All proceeds were donated to the food pantry. The number gets larger every week. They are now up to 89 bags of food that went out last week.

Also, another big thank you to all - more than 150 folks were there to see the nativity scenes and angels. It was a beautiful exhibit which was free; and punch, cookies and coffee were served.

Mr. and Mrs. Harmony Family Restaurant, akaPete and Mariana Mandreanu, family and staff wish everyone Happy Holidays. They will be open Christmas Eve and Christmas Day from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. for reservations or walk-ins. They will be serving full dinners of roast prime beef, harmony roast turkey, roast duck, shrimp and scallops, ham and yams, harmony pork tenderloin plus a vast assortment of desserts mostly baked goods prepared by the Harmony Family bakers, and their excellent wine selection.

Not to forget, they will have the annual Christmas tree decorated for all the boys and girls who dine with their parents and get to pick any toy they want from the tree for free. Their telephone number is 352-848-0828.

At the Handy Plaza on U.S. 41 south, next to Harmony Restaurant, are new cooks and a new hot-food case at the Richee Rich convenience store. They prepare Mexican and American dinners or hot sandwiches. They also offer breakfast specials, according to the owners Sangita and Bart Patel. The food hours are from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day.
