I would like to share with the public that I attended the Christmas parade in Brooksville Saturday morning. The school board had the usual bus in the parade, and this year school board members were walking alongside it with candy.
Chairman Pat Fagan received a remark from someone standing next to me that the school board "really blew smoke up" patrons Thursday night. Then he turned towards the man, smiled and replied, "We sure did." He then followed that with throwing candy at our feet.
I then made a comment to interim Superintendent Sonya Jackson as she passed saying, "You really screwed up something good." To which she pretty much replied the same as Fagan, smiling and replied "thank you."
It seems to me, especially with Fagan's remark, that the move to Challenger of the gifted program was all premeditated and the "workshop" was merely to appease the parents. I would love it if they would poll the gifted population at Explorer to find out how the students feel about the move.
See how those truly affected by this ridiculous change feel, since they silently protested this switch and received no consideration.
