A woman and her four children were displaced from their home in Brooksville after a more than 30 year old lighting fixture started a fire in her daughter's bedroom.
Rescuers from Hernando County Sheriff's Department and Fire Rescue responded Friday to 4319 Orlando Avenue and found smoke coming from a room in a mobile home.
According to sheriff reports, rescuers demolished the roof of the structure in the child's room to put out the fire and make sure no other flames were still smoldering.
Investigators determined the fire was not suspicious and that it likely started in the wiring of the light fixture. Both the trailer and wring is about 30 years old, which according to reports, causes the wiring to become brittle.
The mother of four advised she and her four children were fine and did not need medical attention and that they had another place they could stay.
