SPRING HILL - A 53-year-old Land O' Lakes man was killed Thursday morning when his vehicle struck a wooden utility pool and barbed-wire fence on County Line Road east of Alexson Street, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The man was driving a 2003 Chevy pickup truck westbound on County Line Road and was approaching slower-moving traffic. For unknown reasons, the vehicle traveled onto the northern grass shoulder of County Line Road and continued to travel west around a wooden utility pool, according to FHP.
The driver passed a slower-moving vehicle on the right, then traveled southwest across both lanes of County Line Road. The driver then overcorrected and traveled northwest across County Line Road, according to FHP.
The left side of the truck struck a wooden utility pole and barbed-wire fence and stopped facing southwest into an empty field, according to FHP.
The driver succumbed to his injuries at the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by Spring Hill Fire Rescue personnel, according to FHP.
The driver was wearing a seatbelt and it has not yet been determined if alcohol was involved.
