I am an 85-year-young woman who is aware the majority of letters you receive are negative toward someone or something. I wish to tell you of someone who came into my life in a positive way.
A young man of 43, Richard, working at the Bealls store in Spring Hill, came to me offering assistance to find shoes that would solve a physical problem I have. He went to great lengths to get exactly what I needed.
In conversation, he explained, without self-pity or bitterness, that he had epilepsy. He had been a teacher and is an artist. He could no longer drive, so he had to give up teaching. He had recently lost his son to epilepsy. Having grown up with a mother suffering from epilepsy, I know what he is going through.
I wanted to let people know of this young man, whose struggles with this life-changing affliction, was still cordial, friendly and extremely concerned about my physical needs. I want to thank Richard for making my day.
