BROOKSVILLE - Planning and zoning commissioners Monday approved three separate special exception use permits for three different churches.
Such permits are only allowed in a zoning district if the planning board believes the use intended is compatible with the surrounding neighborhood.
All votes were unanimous.
Damascus Mission Faith Outreach plans to build a 4,500-square-foot church on a 2-acre site on the west side of U.S. 301, just south of Belt Drive.
The church will seat 128 people.
Dennis Ferrara, representing Black Rock Construction, said construction will begin soon.
Alan Garman, with Civil-Tech Consulting Engineers, represented an applicant who plans to develop a 7-acre site on the west side of Mobley Road (north of Wiscon Road) for a maximum 17,000-square-foot church facility with 200 seats.
St. John's Episcopal Church has plans for a 6,000-square-foot sanctuary, along with a picnic pavilion, gazebo and youth camping area on 8.5 acres on the south side of Mondon Hill Road, east of Markham Lane.
