BROOKSVILLE - A local organic farming consultant will present a $1,000 check to the head of a local cannery to help keep the operation going.
Flossie Raines, of the Hernando Little Rock Cannery, will be the featured guest speaker today at the weekly workshops held at Green World Path.
Ray Nielsen, president of Green World Path, will present Raines with the check during the workshop.
Raines will speak on how to preserve fruits, vegetables and meats through canning.
The workshop will begin at 6 p.m. Green World Path is located at 1665 Donto Way.
The cannery is funded by the county, which recently agreed to fund it for another year.
