TAMPA - As the summer travel season looms, motorists should expect increases in gas prices, according to AAA Auto Club South.
Prices have remained stable during the past couple weeks because of little change in consumer demand or supply.
As of Sunday, the national average for a gallon of regular gas was $2.040, down a half cent from the week before.
In Florida, the cost per gallon went from $2.091 to $2.098.
Refinery output remains modest, but with gains on Wall Street and the predicted surge in consumer demand as Memorial Day approaches, prices will be pushed higher, according to AAA.
One year ago, the average cost for a gallon of regular gas was $3.316.
