BROOKSVILLE - West Hernando had little trouble capturing Wednesday's three-team meet at Central High's Bears' Den.

The Golden Eagles tallied 69.5 team points to out-distance Parrott (51.5) and J.D. Floyd (2).

"They did well," West Hernando Head Coach Genard Hudson said. "We're still trying to find the right combination in each event and what we're strong in. We take each meet as an opportunity to improve as a team. I'm proud of my guys."

West Hernando placed first in six events. Kyle Medina pulled out the long jump with a 17'2 1/2", topping teammates Aton Zeytulaev (16'1") and James Bradley (15'10").

Zeytulaev took first in the 400 (59.50) and Ashton Fuentes did the same in the 110-hurdles (16.00).

Geoffrey Brooks won the shot put (38'4 3/4"), Cody Vannatter the 1,600 (5:23) and Jamie Hamby the 800 (2:27.60).

Parrott's Quentin Adams won two sprinting events, the 100 (11.60) and 200 (24.25). Teammate Jeremiah Jackson finished second to him both times (11.64 in the 100, 24.90 in the 200).

Marcus Neal's 4'10" in the high jump gave him the top spot and Charles Worthington tossed the discus 116'0" to win that event.

Tyquon Carr, Ruben Monroe, Neal and Adams ran a first-place 49.82 in the 4x100, and Derrell Holland, Che'vonte Owens, Worthington and Brennan Ertl took the 4x400.

"We did good," Parrott Head Coach Patrick Brandhuber said. "They tried. It was a hot day. West Hernando has some real, real good runners.

"I'm happy with it. You can't be disappointed in them. They gave what they got."

Diego Gomez accounted for J.D. Floyd's team score, taking third in the discus (82'0").

"I thought they did great," J.D. Floyd coach Rob Walden said. "It's our second meet, second year. Our numbers are a little low but the people that came out did a great job.

"Hopefully next year that'll change with a new building and re-zoning. Hopefully we'll get some athletes."
