This weekend Hernando Christian Academy will take part in its second regular-season tournament, traveling to Clearwater Christian College for the Cougar High School Volleyball Tournament.
"Just to get more playing experience, we know it'll be tough competition," HCA Head Coach Sue Murphy said. "I'd rather lose and learn than win and not.
"Not that I expect to lose but we have a very young team compared to the teams that are there. It'll be good for them to get good competition."
The Lady Lions (6-9) also played in the Keswick Invitational at St. Petersburg-Keswick Christian School Sept. 11-13. HCA went 2-3 in that tournament and has dropped 4-of-5 matches since.
"For the experience we have, we're doing OK," Murphy said. "Of course I wish we were doing better, but I think we'll get better as the season progresses. We'll continue to improve."
There will be eight teams in this invitation-only event. Friday will feature pool play and Saturday a tournament round.
Today HCA, in Pool B, plays Gainesville-Cornerstone Academy at 12:45 p.m., Bradenton-Community Christian at 2 p.m. and Gainesville (Ga.)-Jubilee Christian Academy at 3:15 p.m.
