Published: September 21, 2008

Nazdar,

The Octoberfest Dinner is coming from noon to 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5 in the Fellowship Hall at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church on U.S. 41. On the menu will be bratwurst, cabbage rolls, sauerkraut, German potato salad, rye bread, dessert and a beverage - for a donation of $8 for adult, $4 for children under 10, or the family plan for $20. Proceeds will be matched by Thrivent and will go to the Ministry Center Food Pantry.

A special thanks to all who attended and helped prepare last week's pulled pork and smoked turkey dinner, especially Bob and Jan Gathje. The Food Pantry really needs these funds, as the number of needy grows monthly.

All donations are greatly appreciated, and the food pantry is still collecting items to be boxed and sent to our troops overseas.

The new bingo games are at the county fairgrounds on U.S. 41 in Brooksville, sponsored by FOP 164. Games are every Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.; and every Sunday at 5 p.m. Doors open at 4 p.m. The games were established to help people in the community, along with police officers and their families, with support when a crisis arises. The police officers of FOP 164, even after working long, arduous hours, donate their time volunteering in this event for the betterment of their community. They sponsor a number of Little League baseball teams, adult leagues for men and women in softball and flag football, etc. Some of our volunteers have gone to the FOP bingo, and some of their volunteers come to our Masaryktown Bingo, which the Masaryktown Bingo games are every Wednesday and Saturday, with doors opening at 3 p.m. Both bingos have a $3,700 payout; and both have delicious meals, pastries, etc. At FOP bingo there is the Kulwickis' cooking; and at ours, we have the Hruckas also preparing fine meals. So come join the fun.

So where did the new grandma and grandpa go on their one-week vacation last week? To Tallahassee. Linda and Tom Lovelady have returned from a visit with daughter Amy, her hubby Matt Mitchell and the new grandbaby Maddie, who was 1-month-old on Aug. 20. Linda and Tom had a wonderful week off.

Last Sunday, Dee Blaha's brother Craig Lane of Ridge Manor celebrated his 54{+t}{+h} birthday at Mikonos Restaurant in Brooksville. Hosting this dinner party was Dee and Craig's Mom Jean Lane, of Brooksville, his sister and brother-in-law, Dee and Mike Blaha of Masaryktown and Craig's friend, Tina, also of Ridge Manor. All had a great time.

Helen Parsolano, her friend David Marcum, and her girls Stephanie and Rebecca left last Thursday for a weekend cruise on the ship Sensation of the Carnival Cruise Lines. Everyone had a super great time in Nassau.
