Man Wanted For Playing Pediatrician

BROOKSVILLE - Authorities are seeking a Weeki Wachee man whom they say passed himself off as a pediatrician.

Hernando detectives obtained a warrant Monday for the arrest of 50-year-old Gary J. Lloyd on a charge of practicing a medical profession without a license, according to a press release from the Hernando County Sheriff's Office.

Lloyd, also known as Garry M. Lloyd, most recently lived at 10330 Yellowlegs Ave., in Weeki Wachee but hasn't been there since last Thursday, officials said. He lived in Marion and Lake counties before that, the release states.

Lloyd has been representing himself as a medical doctor and pediatrician and also operated the Web site, www.floridapediatrics.org, according to the release. Lloyd has never held a license in either Florida or Connecticut to perform as any type of physician. Pasco County authorities also have an active warrant for Lloyd's arrest on a similar charge. A spokeswoman for the Florida Department of Health said an anonymous complaint led a DOH investigator to visit Lloyd's Web site and request a warrant.

Lloyd stands six-foot-six, weighs 300 pounds and has short, brown, receding hair, brown eyes and a goatee.

He may be traveling with a white male in a 2002 gold, four-door Hyundai, with the Florida tag T91 8SY, or a green 2001 Ford sport utility vehicle with the Florida tag V15 1PG.

A joint investigation by the Hernando County Sheriff's Office and the Florida Department of Health is ongoing.

Authorities urge anyone who may have received services from Lloyd to see a legitimate doctor and report the incident to detectives.
